The Sigma 14mm f1.4 DG DN Art is the world’s first full-frame 14mm lens with a f1.4 aperture. The lens has been optically optimised for astrophotography but also lends itself to landscapes, weddings and interior photography thanks to its ultra-wide angle.

The Sigma 14mm f1.4 DG DN Art lens allows you to bring the night sky to life with its ultra-wide-angle and f1.4 aperture. The lens has been designed with a particular emphasis on optical quality at infinity focus. This ensures that optical aberrations are controlled as well as sagittal coma flare, that allows bright points of light to remain pin-sharp and round at all apertures and across the entire frame.

The 14mm f1.4 DG DN Art lens allows 58% more light onto the sensor than an F1.8 lens. This makes it a perfect choice for astrophotography as well as using hand-held in low-light situations.

Thanks to its ultra-wide angle of view, the 14mm f1.4 lends itself to other genres of photography such as landscapes, weddings and interiors.

The Sigma 14mm f1.4 DG DN Art lens weighs in at 1170g and measures 101.4 × 149.9mm. The lens has been constructed from 19 elements in 15 groups, including 1 SLD, 3 FLD and 4 aspherical elements and features an 11-blade rounded diaphragm.

The lens boasts a range of advanced features to aid the user in both photography and videography. There has been an aperture ring built-in to the barrel that can be set to auto for aperture control on the camera. The ring also features a click and de-click button, allowing you to lock the lens in place so that it doesn’t move when accidentally knocked. Other features include a customisable AFL button, a Manual Focus Lock switch, a rear filter holder, and a built-in Lens Heater Retainer. This allows astrophotographers to hold a heat strip in place when shooting in cold conditions to prevent condensation build-up on the front element.

The front cap has been completely redesigned so that it can lock securely to the lens. It also features a rear filter holder with two compartments that lets you store sheet-type filters to be attached.

Heavier lenses can make a camera setup front heavy. This can put a strain on the thread when mounting onto a tripod and can make the setup unstable. Sigma has thought of this and included the TS-141 Tripod Socket to keep everything well-balanced.

The Sigma 14mm f1.4 DG DN Art lens has been fitted with Sigma’s new High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) motor. This delivers a smoother, faster, quieter and more accurate focusing than a stepping motor.
